Apply For More Funding NDIS

If you require additional funding from the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), you need to review your existing plan, pinpoint where your supports are lacking, and formally ask for a change. Begin by thoroughly examining your current NDIS plan to identify the funding categories you have—Core, Capacity Building, and Capital—and how they are utilized. Note any supports that no longer fulfill your needs, or if your situation has changed, such as worsening health, increased care requirements, or new objectives that need different supports.  Next, collect evidence to back up your request. This may include recent reports from therapists, doctors, or support workers that clarify why your current funding is inadequate and what extra supports or services are necessary.

The evidence should clearly connect your disability-related needs to the funding you are seeking.  Then, reach out to the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) to ask for a plan review. You can do this by calling the NDIS at 1800 800 110, visiting your local office, or talking to your Support Coordinator or Local Area Coordinator (LAC). When you request the review, make it clear that you believe your plan no longer meets your needs and that you want a “change of circumstances” review.  During the review meeting, talk about your updated goals, challenges, and the evidence you have collected.

Be specific about what supports you require and why. If the review is approved, the NDIA may modify your funding accordingly.  If you disagree with the result, you can ask for an internal review within three months of receiving the decision. Getting assistance from a support coordinator, advocate, or disability organization can simplify the process and ensure your request is clearly articulated and backed by solid evidence.
